The Pillai Education Alumni Association is force to reckon with. The alumni of the college are involved in various activities in a collective as well as individual manner. To celebrate their work and contribution to the society, we have our alumni meet. This year the meet was organized on 25th August, 2018. The event like previous years was held at the campus of Pillai College of Education and Research, Panvel.
The formal function began with the lighting of the lamp and prayer. Alumni meet is also a platform where college toppers of the previous batch are felicitated. Our topper of M.Ed. (2016-18) Ms. Rashi Ahuja and B.Ed. (2016-18) topper Ms. Kanchan Sharma were felicitated on this occasion. They spoke of their time at our college and their future plans. It was indeed wonderful to listen to them! The session continued with the reading of the report of the alumni association by the Jt. Secretary, Ms. Bindu S. Tambe. The foremost of this was initiative towards funding the education of orphan children of Immanuel Mercy Home, Chiple. The other activities of the previous year were also brought to the notice of the alumni. Different work carried out by our alumni were presented. The bank account information of the alumni association was disseminated to all present. A request was sent to all to conduct their activities through the bank and also a call to raise membership was made to all.
The occasion also marked the release of the 8th edition of the Alumni Association newsletter. The newsletter depicted all the community related work for the previous academic year. It gave equal coverage to all the activities of the association in a colourful manner.
The formal function concluded by the inspiring words of our Principal Dr. Sally Enos who congratulated the alumni for their untiring efforts put forth in the society for the betterment of the less privileged. This day also marked the farewell of one our beloved teachers, Dr. Geeta R. Thakur. After more than 10 years of service with Pillai College of Education and Research, Panvel, Geeta ma’am is moving on to other projects. We wished her all the best for her future endeavours and relived her 10 years with the institute with a power point presentation and presented her with a small token of love and appreciation.
A session on Financial Planning for a Secure & Better Future” was also conducted for the benefit of the alumni as well as the students and teachers. Mr. Mathew was the in-charge of the session and he spoke about the various aspects of financial planning required in order to make our money grow and to inculcate the habit of saving.
The session ended with the vote of thanks and refreshments were served to all. It was time to meet and greet all our old classmates and create wonderful memories. It was a wonderful day!!!
