As part of Cultural Fest 2024, Pillai College of Education and Research organized a Global Cultural Showcase on 9th May, 2024. On 20th March 2024, Pillai College of Education and Research celebrated International French Day, highlighting the significance of the French language and culture. The event began with participants greeting each other with a cheerful “Bonjour,” setting a lively tone for the day’s activities. The celebration aimed to promote cultural appreciation and linguistic diversity, emphasizing the richness of the French heritage.
Throughout the event, various activities were organized to showcase different aspects of French culture, including its art, music, cuisine, and traditions. Presentations and performances highlighted the historical and contemporary influence of France on global culture. On 20th December, 2023, students from MES Pillai College embarked on an educational journey to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj VastuSangrahalaya and RBI’s Monetary Museum in Fort, Mumbai. The purpose of the visit was to explore India’s rich cultural, social, and economic heritage and understand its relevance in contemporary society.
Upon arrival at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, the students waited patiently for entry and then immersed themselves in a diverse array of ancient sculptures and exhibits from various civilizations. The museum’s intricate artifacts, paintings, and historical items captivated their attention. The students explored every nook of the museum, from Krishna’s murti to stone fabric prints and weaponry, documenting their journey through photographs. The emotional connection felt in front of Krishna’s murti underscored the profound impact of the museum’s exhibits. Following this enriching experience, the students proceeded to RBI’s Monetary Museum, where a video on the evolution of money set the stage for an insightful exploration of currency history. The museum’s exhibits provided a profound understanding of the monetary system’s evolution and its role in shaping the economy. The educational visit left an indelible mark on the students, broadening their understanding of India’s cultural heritage and economic significance. The rich collection of artifacts and engaging exhibits at both museums provided a unique and unforgettable experience. The students expressed their gratitude to their college and professors for organizing this enlightening and enriching opportunity.
The Global Citizenship Club at Pillai College of Education and Research organized an engaging International Food Day celebration on 18th October, 2023. Hosted by Ms. Ruchita Kadu, the event began with an explanation of the significance of International Food Day, celebrated annually on 16th October. This year’s theme, “WATER IS LIFE, WATER IS FOOD, LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND,” highlighted the essential role of water in food production and the importance of equitable access to resources.
A visual presentation featured diverse cuisines from around the world, offering a virtual culinary tour. The highlight of the event was a fun interactive game where students enacted famous dishes, and others guessed their names and countries of origin. This activity fostered a deeper understanding of global culinary traditions and provided an enjoyable learning experience. The event concluded with a thank you note from Ms. Ruchita Kadu and a reflective quote: “THE ONLY WAY TO EAT WELL IS WILLING TO WASTE NOTHING.” The celebration successfully raised awareness about global food issues and celebrated the rich diversity of International cuisines.
The session on International Non-Violence Day at Pillai College of Education and Research (PCER) aimed to promote the power of non-violence for peace and conflict resolution. The event highlighted the significance of non-violent communication and its impact on creating a positive classroom environment.
Mrs. Shruti Nair, Assistant Professor at PCER, commenced the program by emphasizing the importance of 2nd October, which marks the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. She focused on the celebration of International Non-Violence Day, which aligns with Gandhi Jayanti, honoring Mahatma Gandhi’s commitment to the practice of non-violence. Mrs. Nair elaborated on the concept of non-violent communication in the classroom. She discussed how teachers should communicate clearly and peacefully with students, highlighting the importance of fostering positive behavior and creating a harmonious teacher-student relationship. Her emphasis was on encouraging peaceful interactions and the constructive impact of non-violent communication on classroom dynamics. An educational video was shown to the students, illustrating various examples of non-violent communication in classroom settings. The video provided practical insights and reinforced the principles discussed during the session.
