Pillai College of Education & Research, New Panvel arranged community service for the students this year at Shantivan, Nere, New Panvel on 22nd and 23rd October, 2018 and 12th and 19th January, 2019. Teacher training curriculum is not only about development of knowledge and skills. It goes beyond these realms into what are the responsibilities of a teacher towards the community. For this community interaction, we took our students to Shantivan, Nere, a leprosy eradication center. We contributed by cleaning the place and cutting grass. These two days of Shramdaan gave the students an opportunity to extend themselves and offer services for the community – learning empathy, collaboration, communication and to help others.
